Varsity Team 2014-2015

This season was historic in many ways for the Robichaud Girl’s Basketball team.  Based on our pre-season roster we were ranked as one of the top twenty teams in the state before the season started.  There was an article in the Detroit News that read, “Robichaud should easily be the most improved team in the state.”

Last year’s team finished with a record of 5-16.  This year’s team ended the regular season with a record of 17-2; the best in school history.  We also finished the regular season with a record of 10-0 in Western Wayne Athletic Conference play, thus winning the league title outright for the first time in school history.  With this week’s district tournament win the team improved to 18-2 overall.  With a win in tonight’s district final game against Dearborn Divine Child the Lady Bulldogs will win their first district championship in school history.

The team consists of 11 young ladies who give their all to be successful in the classroom as well as on the court.  A team goal at the start of the season was to have the highest grade-point average of any team in the school.  We will see if that goal was met later this school year.

We had four of our players make the All-Conference team.  Three of them: Kayla Brown, Kamaria McDaniel and Chavon Tiggs were First-Team selections.  Arionna Davis made the team as an Honorable Mention.  With the season still in full-swing there will surely be other post-season honors to come for some of our team members.
