Former Bulldog Darius Phillips Makes Freshman All-American Team

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Redshirt freshman Darius Phillips has been named a Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of American on Tuesday afternoon.

Phillips (Detroit, Mich.) averaged 26.4 yards per game ranked in at the top of the Mid-American Conference and 14th-best in the nation. His 792 yards on the season were also tops in the MAC and the fifth-best in WMU history. He opened WMU’s 51-7 win over Eastern Michigan with a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, the first of his career.

This is the second straight season the Broncos have had a FWAA Freshman All-American, wit  h wide receiver Corey Davis earning the honors last season.
